SUMMARY:Community Mondays: Afro Caribbean Drumming and Songs with Javier Navarrette
DESCRIPTION:Learn rhythms and songs from Cuba and Puerto Rico and the foundation of conga drumming and percussion techniques. Students will learn the Afro Cuban rhythm Bembe\, and two songs for the two Orisha deities\, Elegua and Ogun. Students will also learn Bomba Sica rhythm and song from Puerto Rico. This class is open to participants of all ages and backgrounds\, no previous experience needed. If you have a conga drum or percussion instrument\, please bring it. \nParking\nCenter Street Garage\, next door to The Freight\, is currently open nightly until 1am except Sunday. More details here. \nPublic Transit\nThe Freight & Salvage is BARTable! DESCRIPTION:Tenor\, Soprano\, and EWI saxophonist Ayo Brame was born and raised in Oakland\, California. Ayo began his formal jazz studies at the Oakland School for the Arts.
